2b. More of Sub-ethnic group Batak



Sub-ethnic group Batak Pakpak live in Dairi district . Located near the stricken area south of the Sub-ethnic Karo and the limits of the province of Aceh. Dairi also famous for it's coffee is thrives in this fertile soil area. To visit the area by bus or taxi ride takes approximately 5 hours from Medan. This area is known as the Hillside area resorts .

Most of them reluctantly called the Batak, caused they thrust through anchestor more high genealogy for designation is not associated with the Mpu different with Ompu word in the Batak language. Sub-ethnic group Batak Toba live in Toba Samosir district, North Tapanuli and Central Tapanuli. Toba. They used Batak Toba language. "Toba Lake" is around an island called Samosir and all the surrounding region called the land of Batak Toba in North Sumatra Province. "Toba Lake" is one of the largest lake in the world, and the largest in Asia. This lake was nominated for the wonders of nature. This ethnic group also famous with Dance tortor.Batak Toba ethnic clans is the Batak tribes who dwelt page (marbona pasogit) in Toba. Sonak Malela which has 3 (three) sons and decrease 4 (four) genera, namely: Simangunsong, Marpaung, Napitupulu, and Pardede, is one exemplarily clan in Batak Toba.

Sub-ethnic group Batak Simalungun live in Simalungun district and surrounding areas. Some sources state that the ancestors of these tribes came from the South Indian region. System of people's livelihoods Simalungun namely farming with rice and corn, because rice is the staple food everyday and corn are the additional food if the rice is not sufficient.Buying and selling conducted by barter, the language used is language dialects. "Marga" plays an important role in the matter of customary Simalungun.
The original clan Simalungun population is Damanik, and 3 genera entrants namely, Saragih, Sinaga, and Purba. They has came into 4 major clans in Simalungun.



Sub-ethnic group Batak Mandailing live in most of South Tapanuli District and Mandailing Natal regency. Mandailing community ussualy an agricultural society. Most of the citizens residing in rural areas and living as a farmer.Some clans are found in tribal Mandailing is Lubis, Nasution, Pulungan, and Batubara.

"Batak" ethnic group in Indonesia has a unique background, showed that its cultural heritage had been influenced by Indian culture. This uniqueness can be seen from the traditional culture like traditional wedding, music instrument, dances, songs, myths, legends and their traditional houses.
